Wet mount scan comparison

Above: detail of nitrate negative scanned dry
Below: same negative scanned wet.
Old negatives often have handling marks and scratches on the base side. The most time-consuming aspect of scanning is the retouching in photoshop. This comparison of un-retouched scans shows how much work is saved by scanning wet.
The scanner is an Artixscan 1800, the negative is a 5x7" Kodak nitrate film, the acetate overlay is Light Impressions 8x10" negative sleeve made of Mylar D.
I recommend cleaning negatives with Edwall film cleaner after wet scanning.
