Early Crampons, Mt. Hood 1933

Monner 1032

Ice on Curtis Ijames' pack. This photo shows the type of crampons Curtis was using in 1933. Since Curtis was the first to rent and sell crampons in Oregon, this gives an idea of what type of equipment he had then. The crampons on his back in this photo were not the custom crampons manufactured by Martin Vinyard so he and Curtis had not hooked up yet.

January 1, 1933.

Source: 3.25" x 4.25" nitrate negative.
