Studio group picture of five Philippine sailors staging a card game. They are holding playing cards and have conspicuously placed greenback dollars, coins and liquor bottles on the studio floor. In the early twentieth century it was somewhat of a tradition to have men from the Philippines be porters on Navy ships. Sailors were frequent portrait customers at this photo studio which was equipped with a patriotic backdrop portraying a Navy ship’s deck. Bremerton Washington, ca. 1917
