Burns Volunteer Fire Dept. 1907 or 1908. The team is showing their new uniforms. The first group pulled the water pump behind them, the second group pulled the hose wagon. the men in white trousers pulled the chemical engine on the left. Burns firefighting equipment consisted of Chemical Engine Company No. 1, which used a fourteen-way gasoline engine that was very powerful, filling two wire-lined six-inch hoses worked by eleven men on each side. Water Company No. 2, a fulcrum-type hand pumper, used six men on each side. Persons are identified in Burns, Pictorial Celebration, pg. 30 as: John Culp, Chester Carter, Ray Dickinson, Hubert Smith, Perry Williams, Oscar Cavender, Clyde Embree, John Dickenson, Ernest Smith, Frank Wiseman, Frank Jackson, John Sweek, Van Embree, Harry Briscoe, Billy White, Harry Smith (chief) Harry Thompson, Sam Parrish, Joe Smith, Eldon Johnson, Charles Brittingham, Lute Mace.
