1900 Steam Engine in Burns, Oregon

9336-J20 (00156)

5x8" Russell Steam Tractor. "Steam engine of 1900 driven from Vale, Oregon to Burns by Charles A. Byrd for Hank Levens". Identifications: man at controls is grandfather of Jean Mace (Scrivner), and boy on top is her father. Her grandfather drove the steam engine from Vale. The white building on right is the Odd Fellows (and/or Masons) hall. Henry Richardson had the saloon on the main floor.

The Russell steam engine was made in Massillon, Ohio. From the size, it appears to be a 20HP engine and possibly a tandem compound.
